One of these days...

Well, it’s my first blog and only a short time before the first leg of the journey North begins. Pretty excited and inspired by all those other cycle warrior’s blog stories across the globe. Wonderful new horizons and people to meet as I traverse Oz.

I’ve gone for a mountain bike setup for touring rather than a dedicated ‘Randoneur’ style tourer. It’s kitted out with a nice comfy gel seat for the longer days and all the latest ‘high tech’ travelling gear for the OZ Spring to early Summer and . It will only get warmer as I head north. Nothing like perfect timing for all those of end-of-fin year sales at up to 60 per cent off. I’ve always been a scrooge anyway (hey Leesa?)

The traveller and the cockpit

I'm kept company with the IPod's full 180 CDs classic music collection but won't mind the odd Ben Lee's 'Cigarettes will kill you' or Alanis Morisette's 'Ironic' and 'Thank You' or Roger Water's 'The Tide is Turning' across the local airwaves. The IPad's loaded up with 40 movies (converted from DVD to IPad format), a dozen ebooks - 'Sherlock Holmes' to light veg out reading in 'War and Peace' and the 'The Importance of being Earnest', Now I have the time and energy to read 'literary classics' rather than wasting time keeping up with dull IT content for the APS career. Oh I just love this retirement space!. One caveat here though, I do have a solar charger for the devices - should be OK in QLD.

Oh by the way ..next time your looking up at the stars .... did you know that in three billion years our own Milky Way galaxy which our Solar System is part of, will most likely crash into the neighbouring Andromeda galaxy - the sun and stars will disappear and we will be ripped into pieces.
But don't worry - you'll have time to pay off your mortgages and put the cat out!
